SNUE:
Seoul National University of Education is a nationally-recognized university producing elementary school teachers who are well prepared for the 21st century. The academic program focuses on elementary education and offers excellent programs in the education field.

International students may apply to spend one or two semesters at SNUE as exchange students. Exchange students need to apply through CIE office and pay tuition to UNC. For regular exchange students, the application fee and tuition are waived.


Accommodations:
  • Exchange students will be guaranteed on-campus housing at their own expenses.
  • Application for on-campus housing should be made when submitting the admission application materials and payment can be made in cash upon arrival.
  • Dormitory fees (fall 2012) : approx. KRW 780,000. 2 people, shared bathroom & shower room
    • For spring/fall semester 780,000 won (approx. 750 USD/semester)
    • For summer/winter semester 580,000 won (approx. 550 USD/semester)
  • One semester runs for 16 weeks, and approximate costs of KRW 500,000 are needed for each winter/summer break additionally.
  • Dormitory fees are subject to change every semester.
  • Meal plan from Monday through Friday is not included in the dormitory fees shown above.
    • All meals should be purchased separately.
Courses Abroad:
  • Course registration : You will be able to register for your courses when you arrive at SNUE.
  • Class Format : Lectures, seminars, discussions, presentations, projects
  • Participation : expected through discussions and presentations
  • Examinations : Midterm exam, Final exam, presentations etc. (varies among classes)
  • Language of instruction : Korean (90%) and English (10%)
* The availability of courses taught in English: English Conversation, Classroom English, Cognitive Psychology,
   Teaching Methods of Ensemble, Methodology of Elementary level English Teaching and so on.


Program Benefits:
Korean Language Program
All exchange students will be able to take Korean Language Classes free of charge. This program employs outstanding instructors and has developed a learner-centered, up-to-date educational environment with the aim of deepening foreigners' appreciation and understanding of Korean culture and history. All courses are operated under the 4-semester-a-year system and each semester is basically 10 week long. The students will need to take a placement interview during the second week of classes.


University Housing
The purpose of the exchange program is to enable students to immerse themselves in a foreign culture and university system. Living on campus can facilitate the interchange of ideas while providing a measure of security and support that is not readily available elsewhere. Exchange students at SNUE are guaranteed on-campus housing in a dormitory. Rooms normally house two students (double occupancy).


Exchange Student Scholarship
This scholarship is available for every international exchange students from sister universities under the student exchange agreement on a short-term basis from about one semester to one year. A Monthly stipend is KRW 300,000 per month.(approx. $250 per month)


Airport Pick-up Service
Students arriving from overseas may use the airport pick-up service from Incheon International Airport to the Seoul National University of Education. The pick-up schedule will be provided to students later.


Buddy Program
To facilitate smooth adjustments to life in Korea, the Buddy Program assists foreign students to further their understanding of Korean life, while supporting their language study through one-on-one exchange with SNUE students. Toward the goal of building cross-cultural awareness, this program provides support to foreign students while forming friendships beyond academic exchange.
